It’s not pretty but it works.

The trouble with thermal fuses is soldering them in place without burning them out. A light touch with the soldering iron is required.

Had I struggled, my wife is an expert in such things! In fact I used her equipment to solder the fuse into the resistor pack (she quite rightly pointed out that it wasn’t a very neat job).

Anyway, the result is my heater blower works on all four speed settings again (not just number 4).

Garage quote: £130. Final cost of the job: 79 pence. Time taken: 10 minutes.
